Docu Interviews is a series where we interview the person behind the camera.
Who Are you?
My name is Victor Cambet, I am 25 years old, I am a graphic designer. I was born in France and I have now lived in Montreal for more than 3 years. I am passionate about street photography that I practice every day!
Where did you grow up and what was it like?
I grew up in France in Lyon. It is in this city that I started to get interested in photographing it during my graphic design studies.
How did you became a photographer?
When I arrived in Montreal, I didn’t know the city or anyone, so I started walking the streets with a camera in order to discover this city!
Why did you choose photography over other mediums?
Because photography is the best way to transcribe my daily life.
What advice would you give to young emerging photographers?
I would advise them to take an interest in photography outside of Instagram by going to exhibitions, buying books or watching documentaries. I think having an artistic culture helps to develop your work.
What has been the most touching moment in your career?
I think the first time I went to New York to take pictures. It was like a dream to be able to photograph the inhabitants of this city in their daily life.
